FORMER Weipa junior Charlie Lawrence has led the Cricket Far North under-14s to the final of the Northern Region Championships.
Now playing with Rovers after moving to Cairns for boarding school, Lawrence was rewarded for his leadership at club level to be named captain of the Far North.
His performance in Townsville couldn’t be faulted.
Lawrence opened the carnival with 87 off 120 balls to lead Far North to a nail-biting win against the North Queensland boys.
He scored 26 the following day against Central Queensland before hitting a ton against the Mackay-Whitsunday XI to set up a big win.
Opening the batting, Lawrence hit an unbeaten 100 off 121 balls, with 14 fours and one six.
The Far North was rolled by Central Queensland in the final.
