Beth Dall managed to secure the coveted Dawnbusters choccies when 14 players took on the front nine at Carpentaria Golf Club on Sunday (16 August).
A somewhat overcast morning gave players reprieve from the harsh rays of the sun, allowing easier spotting of tee shots from the second and third tee blocks.
Mick ‘Magic Apples’ Cerneka returned for a cameo appearance after he retired back in March due to wrist injuries.
Magic Apples’ last win was a ham in December, however, he impressed on his return with a 47 off the stick and took out the daily double of Men’s Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin.
Other notable scores included Peter Moore with a 41 and Oliver Tata hot on his heels with a 42.
But Dall topped the lot with a net 18 and her gross score was also enough for her to snatch the Hoffman’s award from Bernie Salam, who kept an eye on it the past couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, crowd favourite and Dawnbusters patriarch Viv Dick came through to take out the Bridesmaid award with a net score of 20.
Women’s Longest Drive went to Vivian Chan, who also hit an equally impressive 44 off the stick.
The Dawnbusters will take on the back nine on Sunday and groups are due to get away about 7 am. New players are always welcome.
