Not even the strongest Dawnbusters could claim the Sunday morning chocolates when the founding father came out to play on 30 August.
Dawnbuster patriarch Viv Dick emerged victorious when players battled it out on the Carpentaria Golf Club front nine, hitting a 58 and netting 15, which gave him a clear three-stroke win over his nearest rival.
Despite finishing with a tidy 45, Derek Tata had to be content with the Bridesmaid for his second-place score after handicaps were applied.
Other golfers at one with the course were Scott “Silent Assassin” Triffitt with a 43, and Jim Lucas, returning after a five-week golf coaching clinic in Brisbane, with a 49.
Triffitt did not go home empty-handed though, with his 3/4 swing taking out the men’s longest drive on the 1st hole.
Beth Dall pulled out the big guns to claim both the women’s longest drive and Hoffman’s crown, while Tim Ives favoured accuracy to take out the pin prize on the 9th hole.
Dawnbusters welcomed Owen Wapshott to the first of many Sunday morning games with the crew.
New players are always welcome as Dawnbusters take on the back nine on 6 September, with an expected tee-off time of about 7 am.
