After a break in the Dawnbusters program for the Carpentaria Goodline Open, 16 golfers got a difficult welcome back when they were met with March flies and cyclonic wind gusts on Sunday morning.

Scott “Silent Assassin” Triffit managed to tame the course with an impressive 41 off the stick, though it was Hari Ginate who snagged the win with a Dawnbusters personal best of 48.

Triffit and Ginate both came off a win at the previous weekend’s Open, with the golfers taking out the B-grade men’s gross champion and C-grade men’s runner-up, respectively.

Ginate, now nicknamed “lost for words”, advised that he was all out of bragging vocabulary following his acceptance speech at the Open awards night.

The Bridesmaid went to Derek Tata with an impressive 49 off the stick, which appeared to be his best performance of the past two years.

Big guns of the day were Dave Sands, taking out the men’s longest drive, and Vivian Chan with the women’s longest drive.

Sands also made Dawnbusters proud as the Open’s C-grade men’s champion, while Chan showed how it was done when she bagged the A-grade women’s champion.

After taking last week to rest, Beth Dall came back strong to reclaim the Hoffman’s crown, but Nearest the Pin went begging after the magnificent 16 were unable to hit the 9th green.

New members are welcome when Dawnbusters take on the back 9 on 17 May at about 6:45 am, with golfers urged to bring their own March fly repellent.
