Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR) stakeholders can get the project latest when the Cape York Region Package (CYRP) taskforce hosts a forum in Cairns next month.

The Regional Development Australia Tropical North (RDATN) and the Department of Transport and Main Roads event will provide an update on Stage 2 works, the Community Access Roads Program, and future CYRP stages on 8 May at the Cairns Regional Council.

The State Government has committed $60 million of the $300 million Stage 3 works, with all eyes now on the looming 2026-27 Federal Budget to see whether Canberra will add its 80 per cent to the existing co-funding agreement.

RDATN Chair Professor Hurriyet Babacan said the forum would provide an opportunity for stakeholders and the community to hear directly from project representatives.

“This session will provide an overview of current works and outline the next steps for the Cape York Region Package,” she said.

“Community engagement remains an important part of infrastructure planning and delivery across Far North Queensland.”

The forum will run from 12:15 to 2 pm, with Cape York residents not residing in Cairns able to attend virtually by getting a meeting registration link at eventbrite or by emailing [email protected].
