The future of the rugby league appears to be in good hands after the next generation of NRL and NRWL players took to the field at Andoom Oval on Saturday for the Central Cape Suns grand final day.
Because of Weipa’s population, players train and play amongst themselves all season, however, the grand final day on a Saturday gives parents the opportunity to see their children perform in front of a crowd.
This year’s coaches were: Sandra Kirk (U6), Sammy Muller (U8), Max Emmett (U10), Dovid Kostecki (U12), Nicole Clegg (U14), Trent Gordon (U16) and Alice Hodges (U16 girls).
The MVPs for each age group were: Landen Raye (U6), Beau Ison (U8), Jayda Ison (U10), Caitlin McAllister (U12), Finn Jones (U14), Corey Anderson (U16) and Logan Gordon (U16 girls).
