A fast-paced theatre and innovation adventure will visit the Cape this week.
The Encore for Innovation tour featuring the Get Your Geek On show and workshops blends science, theatre, storytelling and entrepreneurship.
It’s designed to ignite STEM confidence and celebrate First Nations creativity across Far North Queensland.
The Get Your Geek On story’s worth hearing.
Twelve-year-old science whiz Djirra knows how to make a robot walk and volcano pop bright coloured fizz. Her hero David Unaipon – you know the bloke on the Australian $50 note – was an Australian Indigenous inventor.
And just like him, Djirra wants to make an invention that changes the world for the better. But what?
Djirra is excited the school science fair is coming up and wants to take out top prize with a great invention. But she has competition – her classmate and arch-rival in the invention game, Kevin, will do anything to take first prize from her.
Supported by the Queensland Government through Advance Queensland, the program demonstrates how creativity and enterprise can spark pathways for young people across diverse communities.
The Wujal Wujal show on Thursday 23 October is part of a series of on-the-road performances. The performance and subsequent workshop begins at 3:30 pm at the Wujal Wujal community hall.
