It was sweet, sweet victory for Weipa golfer Luke Marston when he claimed his first Dawnbusters win at the Carpentaria Golf Club back nine on Sunday.
Bridesmaid to veteran Grant Crossley last week, who hit his best round in four years, the newer addition to the line-up managed to beat two low-mid 40s scores to claim the chocolates for the morning.
Scott “Silent Assassin” Triffitt carded the lowest score of the day with a 41 off the stick, while Jamie Hutton produced the second best score with a 45.
Despite hitting the best round, Triffitt had to be content with the Bridesmaid prize for the third time in four weeks after handicaps were applied, whacking Marston straight to the top of the leaderboard.
Big guns of the day were Helen Sabatino, who took out the women’s longest drive, and Jamie Hutton, who secured the men’s longest drive.
Bernie Salam claimed the Hoffman’s crown, while accuracy was awarded to Grant Crossley, who finally managed to hit a green in regulation and took the Nearest the Pin on the 18th green.
New players are always welcome as Dawnbusters take on the front nine on 5 July, with an expected tee-off time of about 6:45 am.
