It’s eight seconds of adrenaline-charged mayhem – and today (Thursday, 2 October) marks your last chance to buckle in.
Organisers of the Wujal Wujal Rodeo say 95 bull riders have registered for this Saturday’s event (4 October) and they’re keen to break the 100 mark.
Prizemoney of $2000 is on offer in the open bull ride, $1000 in the rookie bull ride and $800 in the junior bull ride.
For the community’s youngest competitors, $200 will go to the winner of the under-11 and 11-15 years mini bull rides.
But the action’s not all inside the fences. The event brings together community members, family and friends to embrace social connection, cohesion and clarity.
It’s an afternoon and evening out for the whole family with live entertainment from Black Image Band and Patrick Nandy.
Children’s activities include Woody, bush flashmobs, colour run, face painting, rodeo painting competition, door and raffle prizes, best dressed, and Mr & Ms Rodeo 2025.
Grab a bite at the food stalls or a drink at the licensed bar where the responsible drinking of alcohol and drugs awareness and prevention is supported by the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships.
Merchandise is also available to mark the event: shirts (100 already sold), T-shirts, bucket hats, camping mugs, water bottles, gym bags and stubby coolers.
Gates open 2pm at the Wujal Wujal Sports Oval.
