There were several personal best celebrations when the top performers of Weipa parkrun #483 crossed the finish line on 15 August.

Thirteen of the 58 participants recorded PB times on Saturday morning, with six claiming a spot in the top 10.

After Mark Bowden greeted the timekeepers with a time of 22 minutes, 25 seconds, Finley Nadredre (24:09), Charlotte Buchholz (24:57) and Ariel Ampado (25:09) all stopped the clock in record time to finish in second, third and fourth.

William Nevin (26:15), Adriana Rodriguez (26:33) and Lyndsey Fielding (26:38) also notched up PB efforts to round out the first 10 across the line.

The parkrun crew welcomed 10 newbies to the pavement, with first-timer Hannah Coster making her presence known after also joining the top 10 line-up.

This week’s volunteering thanks went to Denica Bowden, Nanthini Kanthan, Susan Tuckwood, Donna Jewell, Tyrone Tuckwood, Clare Haslop, Daneeka Roediger and Emma Eyre.

Anyone wanting to join the parkrun excitement every Saturday morning can do so by assembling at the shelter next to the hospital roundabout in Nanum before the starter’s pistol fires at 7 o’clock.
