An enthusiastic crowd numbering in the thousands had a ball when the 21st Weipa Rodeo hit the showgrounds.
Sponsors of the popular Cape event including Goodline threw their support behind the annual community celebration hosted by Weipa Rodeo Association.
Categories at the Rodeo included Open Bull Rider, Novice Bull Rider, Ladies Bullock Rider, Saddle Bronc Rider, Mini Bull Rider and Barrel Racer (results below).
Attendees were kept entertained by Riverina country musician Danny Phegan and other fun contests such as the whip cracking, chute dogging, kids’ dance off and best dressed cowboy/cowgirl.
The rodeo raised about $13,000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service mental health program and $10,000 for other community groups.
About 3500 people came through the gates on both the Friday and Saturday.
