There was plenty for the faithful of Weipa Bowls Club to celebrate at the Goodline-sponsored Classic events earlier this month.
Local pair Stacey Sorbello and Amanda Moore, the Spicy Rollers, enjoyed an outstanding undefeated performance in the 26th Weipa Ladies Classic Pairs.
The Spicy Rollers won all six games during the Classic from 1-2 August to finish with a perfect 18 match points in the $15,000 event.
The pair’s run included wins of 17–10, 25–12, 19–15, 19–13, 20–8 and a thrilling 16–15 in their last game.
Their consistency proved the difference, with Sorbello and Moore the only combination to complete the six-round tournament unbeaten.
The $30,000 Weipa Bauxite Fours, also sponsored by Goodline, was won by the Kitty Lickers – Andre Buck, Kayden Burley, Justin Hyytinen and Malachy McTaggart.
The Kitty Lickers were dominant throughout 8-9 August, winning all six games to collect the maximum 18 match points.

Their campaign included impressive victories of 32–8 and 28–5 before they finished with a 25–10 win in their final game.
While the Kitty Lickers’ victory was a highlight in the tournament, the Spicy Rollers’ success gave the home crowd a special reason to celebrate.
The local women notching up the prestigious Ladies Classic Pairs win was a standout moment of the Goodline Weipa Bowls Festival, according to Weipa Bowls Club.
