A Weipa mum is saying goodbye to ordinary and aloha to a dream vacation after claiming $240,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The winning ticket, a $5 Live the Life Instant Scratch-Its purchased at Weipa News & Traders, is set to bring the Far North Queenslander $10,000 a month for the next two years.

When an official from The Lott confirmed the wonderful news, the lucky mum said she wasted no time booking a flight to Brisbane to claim her prize at The Lott head office.

“I nearly fell off my chair when I scratched the win. I’m still so grateful that this happened to me,” she said.

“I flew to Brisbane to claim the prize. There was no way that I was going to put the winning ticket in the post. We made a really nice trip out of it.

“The most I’ve ever won is $500, so this is next level. It just goes to show that you have to be in it to win it.”

The welcome addition to her bank balance is set to fund a belated honeymoon on the other side of the world.

“I told my husband and a few family members. My husband was so shocked, he didn’t believe it at first. He just said to me, ‘I’ll believe it when I see it,'” she said.

“We were thinking of putting the prize to a belated honeymoon. Having kids has really put the honeymoon on the back burner. We’d love to go to Hawaii.”
