The future of the western Cape is looking bright as children gain a love of learning in the first eight years of life.
St Joseph’s Parish School hosted Prep to Year 3 students from Western Cape College and Kluthuthu Christian College to mark the 70th anniversary of Under 8s Week on 22 May.
Under the theme Celebrating 70 years of Leadership, Advocacy and Vision, the Queensland-based celebration highlighted the importance of learning through play while connecting kids from across the region.
Students had the opportunity to explore a range of stalls and future possibilities, such as Rio Tinto Weipa, Queensland Police Service, James Cook University, Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service, AFL Cape York, Fisheries Queensland, and many more.
“The focus is engaging children in vibrant, play-based activities such as obstacle courses, arts and crafts, and community gatherings across early learning settings and primary schools,” assistant principal Melanie Turner said.
“It was a fantastic day, and a great time was had by all students, parents and staff.”
