“We went down to Pormpuraaw – we didn’t get that far but we went a fair way,” Locke said on Sunday.
“We had about 45 minutes sleep at Musgrave (Roadhouse) and then made it back to Weipa for the weigh-in.”
Their team’s five dogs were a little worse for wear after copping the brunt of a stubborn boar, but will recuperate.
“We had two older dogs and three pups and when we got the biggest boar we were annoyed that the pups were nowhere to be seen.
“It turned out that they had gone an extra few hundred metres and got another one, which turned out to be the second biggest boar.”
Big crowds attended the weigh-in and presentation at the Carpentaria Golf Club on Saturday night.
A massive 244 pigs were caught by the 48 teams.
Police reported no incidents and the committee thanked sponsors and attendees for their contribution to another successful event.
