Running and cake are not commonly associated with one another, but it is not every day you finish your one hundredth parkrun.

That was the case in Weipa on 25 May when Reece Reed crossed the finish line to record his event milestone, which fellow parkrunners helped celebrate with a cake baked especially for the occasion.

Reed stopped the clock in 26 minutes, 9 seconds over the five-kilometre course, with 33 participants lacing up their shoes for Weipa parkrun 367.

Michael Collins clearly had somewhere to be and finished more than three-and-a-half minutes ahead of the second runner in a time of 18:58, while Emma Eyre set a personal best time of 23:52 to be the fastest female across the line.

Gorka Smith, Kevin Garrett, Luke O’Day and Meedz Tai also secures PBs.

Michael Collins, Fiona Dyer, Camille Freiberg, Vide Freiberg, Zigmund Freiberg, Nadia Habibi, Leon Smith and David Tai volunteered to ensure the event ran smoothly.
