Forensic officers have spent the week in Marton.
POLICE are keeping their cards close to their chest after a 38-year-old woman’s body was found in a yard in Marton (west of Cooktown) on Monday evening.
Detectives from Cooktown and Cairns have been investigating the cause of death.
“Police were called to a Cooktown home at about 5pm Monday following reports a woman had been found deceased. Detectives have begun an investigation based out of Cooktown Police Station. There is no further information available at this time,” a QPS spokesperson told Cape York Weekly.

Queensland Police issued this statement several hours after Cape York Weekly published the story.
SES volunteers were called upon to help with a search of the area.
Cape York Weekly has chosen not to name the deceased woman as police were unable to confirm whether her next of kin had been notified.
