About Sarah Martin

Sarah is a senior journalist with Cape York Weekly, based in Cooktown.

Her passion for telling stories began at age 7, with her first self-published book and it became a full-time career when she left school and started working for the local paper. After stints in government communications, she has completed a full circle, moving back to her hometown and back to her roots as a country journalist.

Sarah loves telling an interesting story, interviewing quirky local characters and covering events, as well as providing the region with a single source of truth. In her spare time, you can find Sarah spending time with family, ringside at a muaythai match or snapping photos at a rodeo or campdraft.
